Gabe Newell had a garden gnome sent into orbit on a Rocket Lab launch. The achievement was rare because people had to boot the game up afterwards to get it, and most players of HL2:E2 played before the launch.
Half-Life: Alyx has 42 achievements on Steam. The achievement Gnome Alone was added to Half-Life: Alyx in an update on November 18, 2020, as a means to create awareness for Rockets Lab's Return To Sender mission launched on November 20.
WTF. I even reinstalled the game just to do the gnome run, and the game just gave me that achievement out of nowhere right when the main menu appeared. Anyone else got this bug before?

When I played half life 2 for the first time, there was a lighting issue. I easily fixed it by a few dxlevel commands, so before I even ran episode 1 and 2 I added the same commands through steam to execute it on start. So now I tried re-installing episode 2 and I did not input any commands and it immediately give me the achievemnt. This worked
Species 8472 Jan 3, 2021 @ 5:59pm. Little Rocket Man and Gnome Alone are two different achievements. The first is for taking the gnome across nearly the entire game.
