Now as for the original question, Idk man, mercenary is fun once you reach tier 2 or still tier 3 maybe even 4, mercenary status is the quickest best way to make money while also leveling most of your character skills, you join whatever faction is in war with a faction you don`t mind screwing with and also have a lot of prosperity so you can go When loyalty gets low, more citizens will join the town militia to take up arms. Once they're stronger than the garrison, if their loyalty is low enough, they'll rebel. Rebelling citizens will Korenthil • 2 yr. ago. Or there is my guide for preventing bankruptcy in Bannerlord. Nice work putting this together. Mercenary contracts NEVER expire and breaking them incurs all the same penalties as breaking vassalage. On top of that they pay virtually nothing. Your options are: 1) Break the contract and have that entire faction hate you probably forever. 2) Become a vassal since there is no benefit to being a mercenary. Simplest way is the perk, though. Trade isn't too difficult to get up, but it can be pretty tedious. Gets a lot easier levelling it once you get the first perk. I might be thinking of Warband but you used to be able to talk to your liege lord and hand back fiefs you owned, at a relationship penalty due in most cases. . Even an mercenary working for a kingdom cannot -- despite the fact that adding parties led by your own companions doesn't cost influence. Being king of your own lets you form an army, but in order for you to have formed a kingdom you need a fief (e.g. one of Imperial culture if you're going along the Imperial quest line), so chicken/egg problem. Seems kind of silly that there isn't a contract like Warband. 20 months of being a mercenary. I don't want to fight for the Battanians anymore, but I don't want to lose rep with each and every lord by "leaving" the kingdom. Is this a bug? I'm not part of the kingdom. I'm just a mercenary. < > November 18, 2022. The life of a mercenary is not for everyone, and it shouldn’t be yours in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord. If you have fought too many enemies for a kingdom and feel that it is time to find something different to do, you can easily stop being a mercenary at any point in time. In my reloading of my saved game I did the poacher quest with no problems and didnt do the spy quest so I"m banking on it being the spy quest. Killing the wrong "innocent thug" in the Spy quest in a consensual dual in a gladiator arena is apparently a crime.
